Suspect Charged with Attempting to Break Into Vehicles in Glenmont Area

For Immediate Release: Friday, February 12, 2021

On Sunday, February 7 at approximately 10:55 p.m., 4th District officers responded to a home in the 12500 block of Winexburg Manor Drive in the Glenmont area after a resident called police to report suspicious activity in the area.

The resident stated that his car alarm went off and that he looked outside and saw a male trying to open the driver’s door to his car.  The resident quickly snapped a cell phone photo of the suspect as he attempted to gain entry into two other cars parked along the street.

Responding officers, using the resident’s cell phone photo of the suspect, located the suspect in the area.  The suspect refused to identify himself to officers but was eventually identified as 24-year-old Rony Zaldivar of Beltsville.

Zaldivar was arrested and charged with attempted rogue and vagabond (for attempting to break into vehicles) and failing to identify himself to the officers.  Zaldivar was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
