Suspect Steals $100,000 Worth of Jewelry During Silver Spring Store Burglary; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

For Immediate Release: Friday, February 26, 2021

Detectives from the 3rd District are investigating the burglary of the TG Jewelers located in the Ellsworth Place Mall on Colesville Road in downtown Silver Spring.  During the burglary, which was captured on mall video surveillance, the suspect stole approximately $100,000 worth of jewelry.  Investigators are releasing the video surveillance of the suspect and his vehicle and are asking anyone with information to come forward to the Police Department.

On Saturday, February 13, officers responded to a burglary alarm at the TG Jewelers.  The officers found broken locks on many of the display cases and the store in disarray.  Mall video surveillance shows the suspect entering a maintenance door adjacent to the business at approximately 9:30 am and forcing entry into the store by kicking through drywall.  He then can be seen forcing open display cases and leaving the store with jewelry.  He exits the mall using a hallway stairwell.

Detectives have obtained additional video of the suspect in the mall in the days prior to the burglary and have also located video of his vehicle.

Anyone with information about this suspect and/or burglary is asked to call the Silver Spring Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may contact Crime Solvers by phone: 1-866-411-TIPS (8477), online, or via the Crime Solvers app.
