Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision Involving Pedestrian in Hillandale

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred yesterday evening in Hillandale. 

On Thursday, March 11 at approximately 9:08 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to New Hampshire Avenue at Oakview Drive for a report of a serious collision involving a pedestrian. 

Preliminary investigation has determined that a 2017 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on New Hampshire Avenue approaching Oakview Drive.  The pedestrian was attempting to cross northbound New Hampshire Avenue in a westerly direction.  The Tacoma struck the pedestrian on New Hampshire Avenue.  The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The pedestrian is identified as Zoila Hermelinda Cruz de Dominguez, age 75, of Washington, D.C.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma is identified as Philip James, age 64, of Jacqueline Court in Silver Spring. James was not injured in the collision.
