Officers from the 4th District have arrested the following suspects after an investigation of the circumstances surrounding an incident on March 10 on Layhill Road in the area of the Interconnector Highway (ICC):
On Wednesday, March 10, at approximately 12:20 a.m., 4th District officers were en route to a call for service in the area of Layhill Road and the ICC when they heard what sounded like a vehicle collision. They investigated the commotion and located three males standing outside of a wrecked Toyota RAV4 on Layhill Road at the exit to the ICC. Two of those males were identified as Reid and Wilson. The identity of the third male (Reid’s friend) will not be released as he was not charged with any crime.
During the investigation of this collision, officers determined that prior to the crash, Reid and his friend were traveling on Layhill Road in the area of Longemead Crossing Drive in the Toyota RAV4 when they observed Wilson attempting to change a flat tire on a Mitsubishi Lancer. Reid’s friend, who was driving, stopped his RAV4 and both men offered to help Wilson change the tire.
As Reid and his friend helped Wilson change the tire, Wilson stole their RAV4.
Reid and his friend ran after Wilson who was driving their (now stolen) car in reverse.
As Wilson drove the RAV4 in reverse, it struck a curb and the vehicle became inoperable. Reid and his friend, who had continued to run after Wilson in their vehicle, found Wilson and the crashed RAV4 just prior to officers’ arrival to the scene.
Officers located Wilson’s disabled Mitsubishi Lancer at Layhill Road and Longmead Crossing Drive and determined that the car had been stolen from Prince George’s County.
Wilson told officers that Reid pointed a handgun and threatened him after the crashed the RAV4 on Layhill Road. Officers located a loaded handgun that Reid had discarded in the woods as police arrived at the scene.
Officers further determined that Wilson had an active warrant for his arrest from Washington, D.C., and that Reid had an active warrant for his arrest from Worcester County in Maryland.
Reid and Wilson were both arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit. Reid was released after posting a $5,000 bond. Wilson was released after posting a $3,000 bond.
