Detectives Conducting Death Investigation After Vehicle Collision in Germantown

For Immediate Release: Monday, March 15, 2021

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are conducting a death investigation of a 47-year-old male after a vehicle collision that occurred early this morning in Germantown.  No foul play is suspected in the male’s death.

On Monday, March 15, at approximately 7:28 a.m., 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Frederick Road (Route 355) and Germantown Road (Route 118) for the report of a collision.  

Preliminary investigation by CRU detectives determined that a 2019 Honda Accord rear-ended a 2015 Ford F-550 that was stopped for the red traffic signal on southbound Frederick Road at Germantown Road.

The driver of the Accord, identified as Louis George Yiallouros, of Beehive Lane in Germantown was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Yiallouros’ body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of his death.  

The driver of the F-550, identified as Elias De Cruz, age 38, of Tralee Court in Germantown and an adult male passenger were not injured in the collision.
