Suspect Charged with Committing Two Pharmacy Robberies in Bel Pre Area

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, March 16, 2021

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division have arrested Clifford Massaquoi, age 25, of Beaverwood Lane, with committing robberies of two pharmacies in the same day in the Bel Pre area.

On March 5, at approximately 6:35 p.m., a suspect, later identified as Massaquoi, entered the CVS located at 2271 Bel Pre Road.  He passed a note at the pharmacy counter demanding prescription drugs but left without obtaining any items.

Approximately 15 minutes later, Massaquoi entered the Walgreens located at 13870 Georgia Avenue (approximately two miles away from the CVS).  Massaquoi jumped over the pharmacy counter, threatened the employees, and demanded that they open the safe.  He obtained drugs and fled.

Detectives reviewed video surveillance and determined that Massaquoi had fled the Walgreens in a black Jeep Patriot.

During the investigation of these robberies, a 4th District detective located a black Jeep Patriot in a neighborhood in close proximity to both robberies.  The vehicle’s owner was determined to be Massaquoi, whose residence was in the neighborhood.  Further investigation led detectives to determine that Massaquoi had committed the robberies.

On March 15, Massaquoi was arrested in the Bel Pre area on the strength of a Montgomery County arrest warrant.  Officers located prescription drugs on his person that were confirmed to be stolen from the Walgreens.

Massaquoi was transported to the Central Processing Unit and is being held without bond.
