Detectives Investigate Single-Vehicle Fatal Collision in Fairland

For Immediate Release: Sunday, April 4, 2021

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision that occurred yesterday afternoon in Fairland.

At approximately 5:46 p.m., yesterday afternoon (Saturday, April 3) 3rd District officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Greencastle Road at Pitcairn Place for the report of a serious collision.

Preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that a 2016 Chrysler 200 was traveling east on Greencastle Road near Pitcairn Place.  For reasons still under investigation, the Chrysler 200 left the roadway and struck a tree.  Investigators believe that excessive speed is a contributing factor to this collision.

The driver and sole occupant of the Chrysler 200 is identified as Gadivel Aviles Navarrete, age 30, of Good Luck Road in Lanham, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
