Detectives Investigate Armed Carjacking in White Oak; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are investigating a June 13 armed carjacking that occurred at a bus stop in White Oak. Today, detectives are releasing surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

The investigation by detectives determined that at approximately 7:00 p.m. on June 13, the suspect stole property from a business located in the 10100 block of New Hampshire Avenue and fled on foot.  An employee, who observed the theft, left the store and drove around in his vehicle in an attempt to locate the suspect.  The employee located the suspect at a bus stop in the 11000 block of New Hampshire Avenue and exited his car while the vehicle was still running.  The suspect and victim became involved in an altercation.   During the altercation, the suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and stole the victim’s vehicle.  The victim was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
