Update: Suspect Charged in Bethesda Homicide

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged Billy J. Phillips III, age 36, of Key West Avenue in Rockville, with the June 23 murder of 66-year-old Geoffrey Biddle.

On Thursday, June 24 at approximately 11:30 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to a residence in the 4600 block of Windsor Lane in Bethesda, for a welfare check.  Officers discovered Biddle deceased in the home from a gunshot wound.   

During the investigation, detectives identified Phillips III as the suspect.  

Yesterday, (Tuesday, June 29), investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Phillips III charging him with first-degree murder.  Phillips III was arrested at his home yesterday afternoon and transported to the Central Processing Unit.  He is being held without bond. Phillips III will have bond review today (Wednesday, June 30) at 1:00 p.m. at the Rockville District Court.
