Detectives Investigate Shots Fired in Montgomery Village

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police - 6th District Investigative Section are investigating the shooting of an adult male that occurred on July 21 in Montgomery Village. Detectives do not believe that this was a random event.


On Wednesday, July 21, at approximately 9:56 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the area of Aspenwood Lane and Aspenwood Place in Montgomery Village for multiple reports of shots fired. Officers then located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The investigation revealed that two groups of subjects engaged in an altercation and shots were fired. Several residences were struck by stray rounds, but no one was injured.

 

Investigators are asking those homeowners in the area who have not already reviewed their home surveillance camera footage from that evening, to please do so and contact investigators if their cameras captured anything pertinent to this investigation.  

 

This remains an ongoing investigation.
