Detectives Investigate Attempted Commercial Armed Robbery in Silver Spring; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate a July 30 attempted armed robbery of a business that occurred in the 13000 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring. Detectives are releasing surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him. 

  

On July 30, at approximately 7:27 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to a business located in the 13000 block of Old Columbia Pike for the report of an attempted armed robbery that just occurred.  

 

The investigation by detectives determined that the suspect entered the business where an employee was working behind the counter. The suspect approached the employee, raised the right side of his sweatshirt, displayed a black handgun that he had concealed on his waistband and demanded money. When observing the employee reaching for something from the counter, the suspect exited the business and fled the scene on foot.
