Victim Identified in September 16 Fatal Collision

Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) received confirmation today on the identification of the victim involved in a fatal vehicle collision on Thursday, Sept. 16.

 

At approximately 12 p.m., Montgomery County Emergency Communications received a 911 call about a vehicle fire near the 19700 block of Barnesville Rd. The caller advised that they believed the driver was trapped in the vehicle. Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene.  Upon arrival, Fire Rescue extinguished the flames and located a single person inside the vehicle.

 

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Blake Chandler Hunt, age 20, of Boyds, MD. 


Preliminary investigation conducted by CRU has determined that a 2010 Mazda 3, driven by Hunt, was traveling north on Barnesville Road. For unknown reasons, the operator left the right side of the roadway and struck several large fencing poles and trees before coming to a rest and catching fire. There is no indication that any other vehicles were involved.
