Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Silver Spring; Victim's Name Released

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit have identified the victim in the November 16 fatality as 28-year-old Henry Melgar Garcia of Rockville.


Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating the fatal collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle that occurred on Tuesday, November 16 in Silver Spring.  


At approximately 5:25 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Columbia Pike and Stewart Lane for the report of a traffic collision that just occurred.  


The investigation has revealed that the operator of a black Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R was traveling southbound on Columbia Pike when he collided with the rear of a blue 2021 Volkswagen Jetta, which was stopping for a traffic signal at Stewart Lane. The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet.  


The decedent was identified as a 28-year-old male from Rockville. The name of the deceased will be released following proper notification of family. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
