For Immediate Release: Wednesday, January 12, 2022

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 3rd and 4th District Investigative Sections have arrested and charged three adult males with a series of 20 commercial burglaries that occurred in the Silver Spring and Wheaton areas.

Detectives in the 3rd and 4th Districts had been investigating a series of commercial burglaries that began on December 17, 2021. In each of the burglaries, detectives learned that the suspects would operate a black or dark colored Jeep Cherokee displaying a stolen Maryland temporary license plate. The suspects would drive the vehicle through the shopping centers in the early morning hours. The suspects would then park the Jeep in front of the establishment door that they were preparing to enter. Two or three suspects would exit the vehicle and use a pry tool to gain entry into the establishment. The suspects would remove the cash register drawer, exit the establishment and flee the scene in the Jeep. Several surveillance videos revealed that the suspects wore all black clothing, hooded shirts or coats, masks, gloves, and carried a blue crowbar or shorter pry tool.

On January 7, 2022, plain clothes officers were conducting surveillance when they identified the dark colored Jeep Cherokee known to be connected to the commercial burglaries. The officers observed a suspect exit the vehicle, which was parked in the Colesville Shopping Center, carrying a blue crowbar. For reasons unknown the suspect went back to the vehicle and fled the area. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle and the suspects were taken into custody. Investigation at the traffic stop revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Prince George’s County on December 13, 2021.

Kevon Neal, age 32, of Washington DC, Jaron Anderson, age 22 of District Heights, and Kevin Bing, age 27, of Washington DC were arrested and charged for the series of burglaries and auto theft. Neal and Bing are being held without bond. Anderson remains in custody awaiting his bond hearing.

Anyone with information regarding these burglaries is asked to call the Silver Spring Investigation Section at 240-773-6870.
