Detectives Investigate Robbery of Person in Downtown Silver Spring; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating a January 14, 2022 robbery of a person that occurred outside of the Home Court store in the 900 block of Philadelphia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring. Detectives have released surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.         

     

On January 14, at approximately 4:24 p.m., 3rd District Officers responded to the location for the report of a robbery that just occurred.        
     

The investigation by detectives has determined that the victim exited the store and walked to his vehicle to get a pair of shoes. The suspect followed the victim to his vehicle. When the victim unlocked his vehicle, the suspect struck him in the face with his elbow, stole the pair of shoes and fled the scene.  

    

Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the store and obtained a physical description of the suspect.   

 

The suspect is described as a Black male, medium build, wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, a green jacket and blue jeans.
