 Detectives Investigate Armed Robbery of Gas Station in Germantown; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a January 31, 2022 armed robbery of the Mobil Gas Station in the 12300 block of Middlebrook Rd. in Germantown. Detectives have released surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.     


On January 31, at approximately 8:06 p.m., 5th District Officers responded to the location for the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.      


The investigation by detectives has determined that the suspect entered the gas station and retrieved merchandise from a display shelf. The suspect handed over cash to an employee who was working behind the counter to pay for the merchandise. When the employee opened the cash register, the suspect displayed a handgun and pointed it at the employee. The suspect then reached over and removed an undisclosed amount of money from the register and fled the scene.

Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the store and obtained a physical description of the suspect.     


The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 6-feet tall, around 175 lbs, wearing a black ski mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and black sneakers.
