Detectives Investigate Armed Robbery of McDonald’s in Germantown; Surveillance Video of Suspect Released

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a Tuesday, March 1, 2022 armed robbery of the McDonald’s restaurant in the 12900 block of Middlebrook Rd. in Germantown. Detectives have released surveillance video of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.      


At approximately 7:15 p.m., 5th District Off
icers responded to the location for the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.       


The investigation by detectives has determined that the suspect entered the restaurant, approached a cashier and ordered some food. The suspect provided the cashier with some money to pay for the food. When the cashier opened the cash register, the suspect leapt onto the counter with a black handgun in his hand, removed an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and fled the scene.  

 

Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the restaurant and obtained a physical description of the suspect.      


The suspect has been described as an unknown race male, in his 20’s, approximately 6-feet tall, around 180 lbs, wearing a black ski mask, a black beanie, a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Callers can remain anonymous.
