Detectives Investigate Two Vehicle Collision on Connecticut Avenue

For Immediate Release: Thursday, May 12, 2022

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred on the morning of Wednesday, May 12, 2022, at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Atherton Drive.  

At approximately 7:35 a.m., 4^th District Officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a traffic collision that just occurred involving a 1997 White Ford F150 pulling a 2015 Holmes light duty trailer and a white 2015 Kia Optima.  

 

The investigation has revealed that the operator of the Ford F150 was attempting to make a left turn from eastbound Atherton Drive to northbound Connecticut Avenue. The operator of the Kia Optima was traveling and continuing south on Connecticut Avenue. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.  

 

The Ford F150 pulling the light duty trailer was carrying two adult individuals at the time of the collision. Both individuals were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The Kia Optima was carrying four individuals at the time of the collision. The driver and two juvenile passengers were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One additional juvenile passenger was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
