Montgomery County Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Wheaton; Victim's Name Released

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the intersection of Connecticut Ave. and Atherton Dr. in Wheaton.    

   

At approximately 7:35 a.m., 4th District Officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision involving multiple people with serious injuries.   

  

The investigation by detectives has determined that the driver of a white 1997 Ford F-150, pulling a 2015 Holmes light duty trailer, was attempting to make a left turn from eastbound Atherton Dr. onto northbound Connecticut Ave. The operator of a white 2015 Kia Optima was traveling and continuing south on Connecticut Ave. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.  

   

Officers located six patients with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening. Four of those patients were passengers of the Kia. Two additional patients were passengers of the Ford.  

  

A child, a passenger in the Kia, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.  The decedent has been identified as 3-year-old Dreamie Dior Jackson from Silver Spring, Maryland.
