Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision Involving Pedestrian

For Immediate Release: Saturday, June 25, 2022

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, June 24, 2022. 

At approximately 4:36 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Georgia Ave. and Rossmoor Blvd., for the report of a pedestrian struck. 

The preliminary investigation by detectives determined that the pedestrian was in the roadway, and not in a crosswalk, when he was struck by a blue 2016 Kia Optima traveling southbound on Georgia Ave.

The adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The decedent has been identified as 87-year-old Randall Dwight Gibson of Rockville.
