Adult Male Charged with Forgery and Auto Theft

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have charged and arrested 22-year-old Phillip Young of Randallstown, Maryland, for purchasing fraudulently two vehicles on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from the Jim Coleman Nissan of Silver Spring dealership in the 3200 block of Automobile Blvd.  

  

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at approximately 9:54 a.m., 3rd District officers were dispatched to the location for the report of a fraud that occurred earlier.   

  

The investigation by detectives has determined that on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at approximately 3 p.m., Young arrived at the dealership and purchased a 2020 Silver Toyota Prius and a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid with two fraudulent checks.   

  

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, Bank of America notified the personnel at the dealership that the two checks issued by Young to buy the two vehicles were fraudulent.   

  

The two vehicles were then entered as stolen into the law enforcement databases. On July 13, 2022, the vehicles were recovered by Baltimore City Police Department.  

  

On Friday, July 15, 2022, detectives applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Young, charging him with auto theft and forgery related charges.   

  

On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, Young was located and arrested by Baltimore City Police Department. Young was then extradited to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was served with the arrest warrant. His bond was set at $1,000.   

 

Young has also been charged with auto theft and forgery charges in two different cases in Baltimore County and in a case in Dauphin County, PA.
