Gaithersburg, MD - Two drivers involved in separate fatal traffic collisions have been indicted by Montgomery County Grand Juries.
75-year-old Robert Worrell of Brookeville, MD, was indicted on Thursday, July 28, 2022, on felony hit and run charges, after fatally striking 64-year-old Robert Lawrence, the morning of Friday, August 11, 2020, with his Ford F-250 in the 4100 block of Bel Pre Rd. in Silver Spring.
Lawrence, of Silver Spring, was transported to an area hospital, where he died three days later.
During the course of the investigation, Montgomery County Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) detectives were able to obtain evidence identifying Worrell as the driver of the truck that struck and killed Lawrence. Detectives determined that Worrell failed to stop, remain on the scene of the collision, render reasonable aid, or report the pedestrian collision to the police.
In a separate case, 34-year-old Jeniffer Vallecillo of Gaithersburg, has been indicted on vehicular manslaughter and homicide while under the influence of alcohol charges, following a fatal two-vehicle collision at Midcounty Hwy and Saybrooke Oaks Blvd. on Monday, November 29, 2021.
Vallecillo was driving a 2021 Toyota Camry when her vehicle collided with 49-year-old Anupom Ghosh of Gaithersburg, who was driving a 2018 Honda CRV. The vehicles collided in the intersection of southbound Midcounty Hwy, and Saybrooke Oaks Blvd. Ghosh was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.
CRU detectives determined that Vallecillo had been driving at a high rate of speed and was under the influence of alcohol when she ran a red light and collided with Ghosh’s Honda.
In both cases, trials are pending.
