Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Investigative Section have arrested and charged 41-year-old Lewis Stokes, of Silver Spring, with reckless endangerment for discharging a firearm into the air on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in the 12600 block of Farnell Dr. during an argument with his neighbor.
At approximately 8:26 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the location for the report of a shooting that just occurred.
The investigation by detectives has determined that a physical altercation between the children of two neighbors happened earlier. On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, one of the neighbors went to the other neighbor’s residence with her family and friends to discuss the physical altercation between their children. An individual later identified as Lewis Stokes, exited the residence, pointed a firearm at the crowd and then discharged it into the air.
Officers arrived at the scene, spoke with witnesses and ordered the occupants inside the residence to leave. The witnesses positively identified Stokes as the person who discharged the firearm into the air. Officers then placed Stokes under arrest. Officers recovered a 9mm shell casing in the front yard of the residence.
Officers applied for and obtained a search and seizure warrant. A search of the residence revealed items of evidentiary value, including a 9mm handgun, a large quantity of controlled dangerous substances and CDS paraphernalia.
Stokes was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with illegal possession of firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammunition and reckless endangerment. He is being held without bond.
