Man Arrested for July Shooting at Dash In Gas Station

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police have arrested and charged 20-year-old Abdulfata Sani, of Silver Spring, with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and use of a firearm while committing a violent felony, for a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, in the 11100 block of New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring.  

 

At approximately 8:06 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Dash In gas station for the report of a shooting. Officers did not locate a victim at the scene. 

 

Shortly after the initial call, officers received a second call from an area hospital, for an individual who was dropped off at the hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound. It was determined that this was the victim from the initial shooting call.   

 

Through the course of the investigation, detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section developed Sani as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.  

 

Sani was arrested on September 3, 2022, as he was getting off a plane at Baltimore Washington International Airport. He is currently being held without bond.
