Twenty-Nine-Year-Old Man Charged with Series of Armed Robberies in Bethesda

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Investigative Section have arrested and charged 29-year-old, Donnell Harris, of Silver Spring, with a series of armed robberies that occurred in the Bethesda area.   

 

Since Wednesday, August 10, 2022, a series of armed robberies began in the areas of Rosemary Hills Dr., 16th St. and East West Hwy. in Bethesda.   

 

In the eight incidents, each victim described the suspect as a Black male, of a thin to medium build, approximately 5-feet, 7-inches tall, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun equipped with a green laser. 

 

Through the course of the investigation, detectives from the Montgomery County Police and the Maryland-National Capital Park Police-Montgomery County Division developed Harris as a suspect.   

 

On Thursday, October 13, 2022, an arrest warrant was obtained for Harris, charging him with multiple counts of armed robbery, first-degree assault and theft related charges. When Harris was arrested on Friday, October 14, 2022, he was in possession of a black 9mm handgun equipped with a laser.  

 

Harris was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he has also been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition related charges. He is being held without bond.
