Detectives Investigate Piney Branch Homicide

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, November 16, 2022

Gaithersburg, MD- Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the 9000 block of Piney Branch Road.

At approximately 5:56 p.m., officers from the 3rd district responded to the location for the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital in serious but stable condition.

A second victim, identified as 20-year-old, Edvin Moises Agustin Leon, was found dead in a wooded area by Montgomery County Police K9 officers. Leon was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy was conducted and homicide was determined to be the cause of death.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
