Detectives Investigate Medical Center Way Pedestrian Fatality; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred the morning of Thursday, November 17, 2022, in the area of Medical Center Way and Medical Center Dr. in Rockville.   

    

At approximately 8:29 a.m., 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.    

 

The investigation by detectives has determined that the pedestrian was crossing Medical Center Way in a southbound direction when he was struck by a gray 2014 Nissan Altima that was traveling westbound on Medical Center Way towards Shady Grove Hospital. The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene.  

 

The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The decedent has been identified as 46-year-old Paul Shinn, of Adamstown, MD.   

   

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
