Gaithersburg, MD – After twelve years on the run, murder fugitive Jorge Rueda Landeros has been arrested in Mexico and charged in connection to the 2010 murder of a Bethesda woman.
On Monday, October 25, 2010, Sue Marcum was found dead in her Bethesda home. Through the course of the investigation, detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division determined that Rueda Landeros had a personal and financial relationship with Marcum and was allegedly involved in her murder. Following the homicide, he fled to Mexico, or Central America.
In December 2022, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – Baltimore Field Office received information that Rueda Landeros was likely living in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
On December 13, 2022, an operation was coordinated with the Legat, Mexico Task Force (Criminal Investigative Agency (AIC) and Jalisco State Police to apprehend Rueda Landeros, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Rueda Landeros, of Northern Virginia, is currently awaiting extradition in Mexico City, where his extradition process was initiated. Once the extradition process is finalized, Legat, MX will coordinate with the FBI – Baltimore Field Office to extradite Rueda Landero back to the United States.
