Detectives Investigate Piney Branch Rd. Fatal Collision

For Immediate Release: Saturday, December 24, 2022

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single vehicle collision that occurred on Friday, December 23, 2022, in the area of Piney Branch Rd. and Sligo Ave.

 

At approximately 4:27 a.m., 3rd District Officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for a single vehicle collision.

 

The investigation by detectives has revealed that a silver 2007 Scion TC with three occupants, was traveling eastbound on Sligo Ave. when it crossed the median into the westbound lane, overturned, crossed the intersection and struck a pole on the east side of Piney Branch Rd. 

 

The driver of the Scion was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Darlin Reyes Gomez, of Laurel. 

 

The two adult male passengers of the Scion were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
