Arrest Made in October 2022 Shooting

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section have arrested and charged 26-year-old Keshawn Simpson, of Silver Spring, for his involvement in a shooting that occurred on October 24, 2022, in Downtown Silver Spring.   

At approximately 10:36 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the intersection of Fenton St. and Ellsworth Dr. for the report of shots fired.  

The preliminary investigation by detectives determined that two Black males were shooting at one another.  

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified one of the suspects as Simpson and obtained an arrest warrant. On Friday, December 16, 2022, an officer attempted to make a traffic stop on Simpson, to serve the warrant, but he fled.  

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, Simpson was located and arrested. He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he has been charged with first degree assault and firearm related charges. He is currently being held without bond.   

The second suspect is still outstanding.
