Suspect Arrested in Connection With Germantown Shooting

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police have arrested and charged 26-year-old Twon Kelly, of Kensington, for a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in the area of Town Commons Court in Germantown.  

At approximately 2:13 a.m., 5th District officers responded to the location for the report of a suspicious situation.  

Upon arrival, officers were advised that after hearing a knock at their door, the victims observed two male suspects, one armed with a handgun standing outside of their residence. The male suspect, later identified as Kelly, began to shoot at the house.  

Through the course of the investigation, Kelly was identified as a suspect.   

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Kelly’s residence. Items of evidentiary value were located at his residence and inside the vehicle he was arrested in. 

On Thursday, January 5, 2023, Kelly was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, first degree assault and a number of other firearm related violations.
