Detectives Investigate Montgomery Village Avenue Pedestrian Fatality

For Immediate Release: Friday, February 3, 2023

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, in the area of Montgomery Village Avenue and Centerway Road.  

At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers from the 6th District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.  

The preliminary investigation has determined that the pedestrian was crossing Montgomery Village Avenue from east to west near Centerway Road when he was struck by a red 2017 Toyota Corolla traveling northbound.  

The driver remained on scene.  

The male pedestrian identified as 67-year-old Sterling David Brown of Montgomery Village, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. On Thursday, February 2, 2023, while in the hospital, Brown died from injuries sustained from the collision.  

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
