Urgent Care Doctor Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Patients

For Immediate Release: Thursday, February 16, 2023

Gaithersburg, MD - A Montgomery County physician has been arrested and charged with rape and a sexual assault that occurred in a Silver Spring urgent care facility.

Two female victims visited the urgent care on separate dates and allege that Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed Malik groped, inappropriately touched, and sexually assaulted the victims during routine examinations. Each of the assaults occurred at the Advanced Walk-in Urgent Care located at 10800 Lockwood Dr. in Silver Spring.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) suspect that there may be more victims of the 58-year-old doctor and are asking for them to come forward.

SVID detectives requested and received a warrant for Dr. Malik’s arrest, and he was taken into custody on Thursday, February 16, 2023, outside of his medical practice on Lockwood Dr.

Dr. Malik has been charged with second-degree rape, second-degree assault and fourth-degree sex offense. Malik is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where awaits a bond hearing.

Based on the above incidents, SVID detectives believe that there may be additional victims of sexual assault by Ishtiaq Ahmed Malik that have not contacted police.  Detectives are urging anyone who believes themselves to be a victim to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at (240) 773-5400.
