Detectives Investigate Bonifant Street Homicide; Victim's Identity Released

For Immediate Release: Monday, March 6, 2023

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, March 5, 2023, in 900 block of Bonifant St.

At approximately 10:17 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for a check the welfare call. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male deceased, in a car, with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Deandre Keith Ellis, of an unknown address. 

The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to officially determine the cause and manner of death.

Currently, there is no suspect in custody. This an active and ongoing investigation.

The name of the decedent will be released following proper notification of next-of-kin.
