Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division and Rockville City Department of Police have concluded a joint investigation, leading to the arrest of 24-year-old Gerrard Luke Harrison, of Rockville. Harrison is believed to be responsible for a series of armed robberies that occurred in Rockville during the month of February 2023.
On Sunday, February 12, 2023, Harrison stole money from a Girl Scout stand at the Safeway in the 14900 block of Shady Grove Rd. in Rockville.
On Saturday, February 18, 2023, Harrison approached a food delivery driver in the 700 block of Fallsgrove Dr., displayed a handgun in his waistband and stole the driver’s food and money.
On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, Harrison, armed with a rifle concealed under his clothing, entered the Smoothie King in the 14900 block of Shady Grove Rd. and demanded an employee hand over money. Another employee quickly called 911, which caused Harrison to leave the scene without stealing any money.
On Saturday, February 25, 2023, officers responded to the Wing Stop in the 14900 block of Shady Grove Rd. for the report of an armed robbery. During this robbery, Harrison entered the restaurant, pointed a black rifle at an employee and demanded money from the register. Harrison subsequently stole an undisclosed amount of money from the restaurant as well as property from an employee and left the scene.
On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Harrison entered the 7-Eleven store at 10020 Darnestown Rd., pulled out a black rifle and demanded cash from the register. The employee handed over money to Harrison who then stole a customer’s property and left the scene.
Detectives reviewed the surveillance cameras of the stores and obtained a physical description of Harrison.
Through the investigation, detectives identified Harrison as the suspect.
An arrest warrant for Harrison was obtained, charging him with armed robbery, first-degree assault, firearm possession-prohibited person, use of a handgun in the commission of a felony, reckless endangerment, theft, and second-degree assault.
On Friday, March 3, 2023, a search and seizure warrant was obtained and executed at Harrison’s residence in Rockville, where items of evidentiary value, including an air soft rifle, connecting Harrison to the crime scenes were recovered. Harrison was located inside of the residence and taken into police custody.
Harrison was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
