Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine

Gaithersburg, MD – Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Community Action Team have arrested 38-year-old Harry Perkins of Germantown for Possessing Fentanyl and Crystal Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.  


At approximately 11:35 p.m., officers observed a Chevrolet Equinox commit a moving violation in the area of Circle Gate Dr. and Wisteria Dr. Officers initiated a traffic stop of the Chevrolet in the area of Great Seneca Hwy. and Wisteria Dr.    

 

Officers made contact with the driver and Perkins, who was a passenger in the Chevrolet. Perkins initially provided a false name to officers in attempt to avoid prosecution. Through investigative means, officers were able to positively identify Perkins and determined that there were 4 active warrants for Perkins' arrest.  

 

Officers asked Perkins to exit the Chevrolet to place him under arrest. When Perkins exited the Chevrolet, officers observed drug paraphernalia on the passenger seat, providing officers probable cause to search the Chevrolet. 

  

A search of the Chevrolet revealed 20 suspected Fentanyl pills, approximately 21 grams of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine, Crack Cocaine and drug paraphernalia, which was all indicative of drug distribution.   

 

Perkins was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Fentanyl, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Crystal Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine and related charges. A $10,000 bond has been set for his release.
