Gaithersburg, MD – Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Community Action Team have arrested 20-year-old Alan Garcia of Silver Spring and a juvenile female following a community complaint in the shopping center located at 12345 Georgia Avenue in Glenmont.
On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers were patrolling the shopping center in response to a community complaint made by business owners and residents of the area, regarding on-going alcohol, drug and disorderly conduct offenses occurring in the shopping center.
Officers observed Garcia and the juvenile female in a stairwell to the rear of 12331 Georgia Ave., which is an area of the shopping center that is marked with posted “No Trespassing” signs. Upon approaching them, officers observed drug paraphernalia in their possession. Garcia attempted to run, but he was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest.
A search of Garcia’s person revealed hundreds of Fentanyl pills, a large amount of U.S. currency, drug paraphernalia containing Heroin residue and a 9mm privately made firearm, also known as a ghost gun. The firearm had an illegal device that made it fully automatic, capable of firing multiple bullets in rapid succession with a single pull of the trigger.
The juvenile female was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Police 4th District Station, where she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing. The Department of Juvenile Services was notified of the arrest. The juvenile female was then released to her parent.
Garcia was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he has been charged with illegal possession of firearm, possession of firearm in the commission of a felony, possession with the intent to distribute drugs, resisting arrest and trespassing. He is being held without bond.
