Detectives Investigate Theft from Auto; Surveillance Photos Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police- 4th District Patrol Investigation Unit (PIU) are investigating a theft from auto that occurred on Thursday, April 6, 2023, in the 4000 block of Gelding Lane in Olney. Detectives have released surveillance video of the two suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.  

The initial investigation has revealed that two unknown suspects forced entry into the victim’s vehicle. The suspects stole credit cards which were used to purchase prepaid debit cards at a retail store in Washington D.C. The suspects arrived and left in a small gray car, possibly a ride share, driven by another unknown individual.  

The first suspect is described as a thin White male, wearing a mask, gray sweatpants and a black sweatshirt.  

The second suspect is described as an unknown race female with black hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, red shorts and carrying a bag.  

This remains an active and ongoing investigation.  


Detectives are urging anyone with information regarding this crime or the suspect(s) involved to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s). Callers may remain anonymous.
