Two Suspects Arrested for Armed Robbery

Gaithersburg, MD- Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have charged 35-year-old Shamell Naquan Joyner, of Washington D.C., with two armed robberies and 30-year-old Aaron Christopher Johnson, of an unconfirmed address, with one armed robbery, that occurred in Silver Spring.

Joyner is accused of committing an armed robbery on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at an Exxon in the 9300 block of Georgia Ave.

The investigation by detectives revealed that Joyner entered the gas station and locked the front door. He then walked behind the register, displayed a handgun at the employee and demanded that he open the register. Joyner obtained an undisclosed amount of money and exited the gas station.

Joyner and Johnson are both accused of committing an armed robbery on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, of a 7-Eleven in the 8400 block of Georgia Ave.

The investigation by detectives has determined that Joyner approached the employee at the counter, displayed a handgun and demanded the cash in the register. Joyner then left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash and drove away with Johnson.

Detectives have obtained arrest warrants for Joyner and Johnson.

Joyner has been charged with armed robbery and firearm related charges.

Johnson has been charged with conspiracy armed robbery.

Joyner and Johnson are both being held at a correctional facility in Washington, D.C. on unrelated charges.
