Detectives Investigate Rockville Armed Robbery; Surveillance Video Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a commercial armed robbery that occurred on Monday, October 2, 2023, at Dawson’s Market in the 200 block of N. Washington St. in Rockville.  


At approximately 11:09 a.m., officers from the Rockville City Police Department responded to the location for the report of a commercial armed robbery.  


The investigation by detectives has revealed that the male suspect entered the store approximately thirty minutes before the armed robbery occurred. Upon initially entering the store the suspect attempted to steal food and leave without paying. He was stopped by an employee and asked to leave the store without any stolen items.  The suspect initially complied with the employee’s demands and left the store. Shortly after leaving, the suspect returned to the store, approached the employee and displayed a knife. The suspect stole items and left the store.  


The suspect is described as a Black male, 27 to 37-years-old, 5-feet, 10-inches tall, and weighs approximately 225-250 pounds. He was wearing an orange baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, red t-shirt, black pants, white and gray sneakers, blue surgical mask and red and black gloves.
