Suspect Wanted in Connection with White Oak Homicide Arrested

Gaithersburg, MD - The suspect wanted in connection with a November 4, 2023 homicide is in custody.

 

33-year-old Markus Tyrell Dowdy was arrested in Takoma Park on Saturday, December 2, by The United States Marshals, Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, for allegedly shooting and killing 34-year-old Marvin Jefferson of Silver Spring.  

 

Dowdy is accused of shooting Jefferson following an altercation at the America’s Best Wings restaurant in the White Oak Shopping Center.


A second victim, an adult male was shot and transported to an area hospital in serious condition and has since been released from the hospital.

 

Through the course of the investigation, Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes detectives identified Dowdy as the suspect in the double shooting.

 

On Sunday, November 5, detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant charging Dowdy with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime, second-degree assault and other related charges.


Dowdy who has no known address, is being held in the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he awaits a bond hearing.
