Detectives Investigate AT&T Store Armed Robbery

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the AT&T store in the 4900 block of Elm Street.

At approximately 6:33 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the location for the report of a robbery.

The preliminary investigation by detectives has revealed that the suspect entered the store, posing as a customer, asked about buying an iPhone 15 Pro Max and displayed a potentially fraudulently ID card. When the employee brought out the phone to complete the transaction, the suspect allegedly told the employee he was not going to pay for it and implied he had a weapon in his jacket pocket. Then, the employee handed the suspect the iPhone and the suspect left the scene.

Detectives obtained surveillance photos of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Black male, hair styled in twists, wearing sunglasses and a black and blue coat.
