Sixty-Seven-Year-Old Man Arrested for Bethesda Residential Burglary

Gaithersburg, MD – 67-year-old Walter Lee Wright, of an unconfirmed address, has been arrested and charged for allegedly committing a residential burglary that occurred on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

At approximately 10:35 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the 4500 block of Dorset Ave., for a burglary in progress.

The preliminary investigation by detectives determined that the victim called police, while locked in her bathroom, as the suspect was walking through her home. When officers arrived, they saw the suspect, later identified as Wright, in the front of the victim’s residence, carrying property. Wright ran away from the scene and officers later located him in the area of Deal Pl. and Cumberland Ave., where he was taken into custody.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Investigative Section have charged Wright with first-degree burglary and related charges.

Wright is currently being without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
