Detectives Investigate Chipotle Armed Robbery

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who allegedly committed an armed robbery on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspect. At approximately 9:15 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the Chipotle in the 7600 block of Old Georgetown Rd.

The preliminary investigation by detectives has reveled that the suspect entered the restaurant and placed an order. Then, the suspect put his hand in his backpack and demanded the employee to empty the register. The cashier ran away and called police. The suspect jumped behind the counter and tried to open the register, without success.

The suspect saw a second employee, displayed a tan and black handgun and demanded the employee open the register. The employee complied. The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money and ran away from the scene. Detectives obtained surveillance video.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 20-25 years-old, 5-feet, 7-inches to 5-feet, 8-inches tall.
