Detectives Investigate Veirs Mill Road Hit and Run Pedestrian Fatality; Victim's Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a hit and run pedestrian fatality that occurred on Monday, April 8, 2024.

At approximately 12:02 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Veirs Mill Road and Monterrey Dr. for the report of a pedestrian struck.

The preliminary investigation by detectives has revealed that the adult male pedestrian was riding his skateboard in the roadway of westbound Veirs Mill Rd., just prior to Monterrey Dr., when he was hit by a white Acura TL traveling westbound. The driver of the striking vehicle fled the scene.

The Acura, an approximately 2009 model, has damage to the front right corner, including a missing portion of the bumper cover and a missing/broken headlight, fog light and parking light. It may also have damage to the windshield and/or window.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 26-year-old Jacques Price of Silver Spring. 

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
