Forty-Six-Year-Old Charged with Second-Degree Rape; Possibility of Additional Victims a Concern

Gaithersburg, MD – A 46-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree rape of a minor.


Charles Erby Jr. was arrested on Friday, April 12, 2024, following an investigation by the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID).  Detectives are concerned that more victims may have not contacted police. 


The investigation by detectives has revealed that on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Erby Jr. lured the juvenile victim into a wooded area in the 13000 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville, where he sexually assaulted them.


Detectives quickly developed Erby Jr. as the suspect. He was arrested in Washington, D.C., where he is currently being held, awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
