Chevy Chase Man Wanted in Connection with Death of Maryland Parole and Probation Agent

Gaithersburg, MD - The Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division is actively searching for Emanuel Edward Sewell, a Chevy Chase man wanted in connection with the death of a Maryland Parole and Probation agent.

Sewell, 54, may be driving a gray 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Maryland license plates 93661HT.

On Friday, May 31, 2024, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police 2nd District were dispatched to the 2800 block of Terrace Drive in Chevy Chase for a welfare check on a Maryland Parole and Probation agent who had not reported back to work after a resident check of Sewell, a registered sex offender.

Upon entry into the residence, officers discovered an adult male who was pronounced dead at the scene. Sewell was not in the apartment and has not been located.

Major Crimes detectives have obtained a warrant for Sewell’s arrest, charging him with second-degree murder. Sewell may be armed and is considered dangerous. Do not approach the suspect if located.

The name of the decedent will be released following proper notification of next of kin. The manner and cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
