Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigates FDA Boulevard Fatal Collision; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD - The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle that occurred on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the intersection of FDA Boulevard and Cherry Hill Road.

 

At approximately 1:03 a.m., Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue responded to the location for a single-vehicle collision.

 

The investigation has revealed that a blue 2007 Yamaha R6 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on FDA Boulevard, approaching Cherry Hill Road, when for reasons unknown at this time, collided with a curb and a traffic light support pole. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle

 

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Angel Eduardo Avila Lopez of Rockville.
