Two Suspects Arrested for Two Armed Carjackings in Silver Spring

Gaithersburg, MD- 18-year-old Kelvin Lovell Hager and a 14-year-old male have been arrested and charged with allegedly committing two armed carjackings in Silver Spring.

 

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, at approximately 10:05 p.m., Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District officers responded to the 500 block of Thayer Ave. for the report of an armed carjacking.

 

At approximately 10:30 p.m., officers began investigating a second armed carjacking in the 8700 block of Cameron St., believed to be committed by the same suspects.

 

During the investigation, detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division identified a 14-year-old male as one of the suspects in the Thayer Ave. carjacking. He was arrested, charged and released to the custody of his parent/guardian.

 

Detectives later identified Hager as one of the suspects in the Thayer Ave. carjacking and on Sunday, May 5, 2024, an arrest warrant was obtained.  At the time of the warrant, Hager was incarcerated in Washington, D.C., on unrelated charges.

 

On Monday, July 29, 2024, Hager waived his extradition rights and was transported to Montgomery County.

Detectives later charged Hager and the 14-year-old with the Cameron St. carjackings.
