Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigates Great Seneca Highway Fatality; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD- A 28-year-old lawn mower operator has died following a collision on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

At approximately 1:13 p.m., Montgomery County Police 6th District and Gaithersburg Police officers, and Fire Rescue personnel, responded to the area of Great Seneca Hwy., and High Gables Dr., for the report of a collision involving a black 2021 Genesis G70 and the operator of a riding lawn mower.

Responding units located the victim, Juan Guerrero-Moreno, of Silver Spring, unresponsive in the roadway. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene and the victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, where he was later pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation by detectives has revealed that the driver of the Genesis was traveling northbound on Great Seneca Hwy., when for reason still under investigation, they struck the operator of a zero-turn riding mower, who was crossing the northbound lanes of Great Seneca Hwy., from east to west. The driver of the Genesis remained at the scene.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating this collision.
